Eligibility criteria for family residence Thursday, 26 May 2011 00:20

The Sponsorship Law No.(4) of the year 2009 on the regulation of the entry and exit of expatriates, their residence and sponsorship provides that the residence permits shall be granted to the husband of the licencee of the residence in Qatar and the male children who have not completed their university education until the age of 25 (twenty five) and his unmarried daughters. The parents of the licensee can also be granted the license with the approval of the Minister of Interior or his deputy if there is a justification for that. The expatriate whose family has been licensed to reside must apply for the residence permit for his new born baby within 60 (sixty days) from the date of birth or entering the country. In case of birth outside the country and the parents or one of them have a valid residence permit, the newborn baby shall be permitted to enter the country during the period of two years from the date of birth according to the conditions specified by the Ministry of the Interior, which takes into account the ability of the sponsor, his solvency, job and income in order to ensure a decent life for the resident and his family, which varies from time to time and varies according to the change and the development of the economic conditions of the state, taking into account the cost of provision of housing, food and other related facilities.
