Clerk jailed for breaking and stealing from ATM Thursday, 24 June 2010 02:13

A company clerk was expelled from work and sentenced to one year in jail for breaking an ATM and stealing
its contents.

The clerk confessed before investigators to stealing from the machine after getting help from two friends.

“I took the spare keys of the machine and stole its contents after company time,” the clerk said as he confessed to committing the crime.

Prior to discovering the robber, a security services company worker received a tip about an ATM machine emptied of its contents. As he headed to the machine, the worker noticed that the security camera above the machine was switched off and an alarm bill was broken.

One of the clerk’s two collaborators was also sentenced to one year in jail, while the second one was sentenced to five years in jail in absentia.
