If you love to be on top of fashion and global trends, then Splash gives you a reason to enjoy the experience with a twist. As part of its new Autumn/Winter 2010 season launch, Splash has unveiled an innovative 3D print media campaign, the first of its kind in the Middle East. 3D is a trend that is inspiring fashion, as it is our lives, and Splash has used this opportunity to be on the frontline as technology makes its way into fashion and catwalks worldwide.
Autumn/Winter 2010 sees Splash deliver on its ‘Eye on Design’ philosophy through five distinctive themes. Women’s trends are translated into themes influenced by Military/Biker and Country Club Ski while the Men’s collections take inspiration from the three main themes of Urban Gangster, Men at Arms
and Nu-Ski.
The ‘Military/Biker’ collection is less about contemporary influences and more about looking back at historical designs and traditional military garb from different eras. However, it retains elements of the urban biker combined with the bad girl ‘gangster’ feel. Key pieces from this collection such as aviator jackets and military inspired coats contrast with layered lace skirts, georgette dresses contrast with sturdy tweed blazers and coats with fur detailing contrast with biker jackets, give the line an edgy yet feminine look. Flannel, double-faced wool, lightweight canvas, insignia and skin prints are the key details and fabrics for the collection while the colour palette is predominantly khaki, accentuated with a flash of cardinal red. Shades of olive green are mixed with earthen browns whereas black and deep blue palettes enhance the dark mood. Antique gold mixes subtly with gunmetal grey and air-force blue is also predominant in this range.
The ‘Country Club Ski’ collection for women features several diverse looks from equestrian to the 60s preppy schoolgirl. Retro influences are drawn from the late 50s/early 60s and the 70s. It’s all about mismatched layering and a mix of masculine with feminine. To add a bit of romanticism, team the new awkward-length long skirts with neat belted knits or aviator jackets. Trouser shapes are redefined, with high-waisted leg-elongating flared silhouettes, Jodhpurs being a key item. The sheath dress, the trench, skinny fit-and-flare pea coats with shirt dresses, tailored shorts, bow-tied blouses are key highlights of this collection. Waistcoats and gilets, mini-kilts, neat-fit skinny knits and big cardigan jackets will also find flavour in the season’s must-haves. Fall colours like ochre, rusty orange and brown perfectly sync with imperial shades like tan and royal blue adding the extra glam to each of the looks.
The ‘Urban Gangster’ line for men draws inspiration from the fashion era of ‘The Godfather’ epitomised by the likes of Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. With undertones of the classic gangster fashion, clean slim shapes are mixed with torn and bruised detailing adding a military inspiration to the ensemble. Heavy sweaters in cable knits and long trench coats with fastenings are the highlight pieces in this line.
The ‘Nu Ski’ collection for men has an adventurous spirit with influences drawn from expeditions and mountaineering. Heavy outerwear like knitted trench coats, sweaters with fleece and fur create the perfect aspen ski look, while mixed tones of varsity fonts serve as the perfect detailing complement.
