Qatari Armed Forces, the Interior Ministry, the Internal Security Force (Lakhwiya) and the Emiri Guard, displayed their best on the Corniche yesterday to mark Qatar’s National Day. The parade started with the national anthem, then verses from the Holy Quran were recited. An 18-gun salute followed to welcome the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thai. The parade included infantry columns of the Army, the Police and the Emiri Guard. A parade of the thorough-bred and pure-bred Arabian horses and camels followed. The parade displayed weapons, armoured vehicles and military equipment. An air show of fighter jets and helicopters was part of the parade along with another sea parade of twenty-four traditional dhow boats. Our photographer Salim Matramkot captures some of the highlights.
