Women-only cinema hall set to open doors on Thursday

June 27, 2011 - 12:38:50 am

DOHA: Aspire Zone Foundation will open the first ‘ladies only’ cinema in the Middle East on Thursday.

The cinema will be based in AZF’s Ladies Club and will show the latest releases currently being screened in other theatres in Doha.

All films for the 154-seat Aspire Ladies Cinema will be provided by the Qatar Cinema & Film Distribution Co, which already operates some of the largest cinema outlets in Doha.

Three films will be shown every weekend (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) at 1500, 1700 and 1900 hours. An extra film will be shown at 1100 on Saturday, specifically for children (to be accompanied by a female relative).

Listings of the films to be shown will be available on the websites of Qatar Cinema & Film Distribution (www.qatarcinemas.com), Aspire Zone Foundation (www.aspirezone.qa), and Qatar Happening (www.qatarhappening.com).

The schedule of films to be screened will be known two weeks in advance and the presentation schedule will change according to the popularity of a particular film.

The cost of a ticket will be close to the price of VIP seats in Doha’s main cinemas.

As part of AZF’s vision to promote a healthy lifestyle for the residents of Qatar, the club is also proposing to provide nutritional food and drinks, as refreshments during the screenings.
