Doha: The body of the youngest of the three brothers who were drowned off Al Wakra beach has been found, Al Arab reported yesterday.
The body was found floating near the Ras Abu Fantas beach in Wakra at around 3:30pm on Wednesday, after it travelled a distance of 13km in five days.
The deceased boys, aged 11, 13 and 15, went missing on Saturday while they were swimming in the sea west of the Wakra Park. The rescue team recovered two bodies from Ras Abu Fantas earlier but the youngest one was not found till Wednesday. The recovery and rescue operation was led by Brigadier Gen Ali Ahmed Al Badid, Director-General of Border and Coastal Security, in which officials and many coast guards from the Wakra centre were involved.
The body of the youth was handed over to the concerned authorities in the presence of the father of the deceased.
In the wake of the recent incident, the border and coastal security officials have asked people not to swim in areas with danger zone notices, and follow safety instructions. Parents were asked to make sure that their children wear life jackets while swimming.
