VISITING ANIMAL FRIENDS ON EID Saturday, 20 November 2010 01:18

by Qassim Rahmatullah

Attracting nearly 30,000 visitors on the first three days of Eid Al Adha, the Doha Zoo has been one of the favourite destinations during the holiday.

\As Eid holidays came to a close yesterday, thousands of visitors rushed to the zoo taking pictures, feeding giraffes and the elephant and getting a chance to hold a snake.

Doha Zoo is home to an estimated 1,600 animals which belong to over a hundred species including cranes, ducks, geese, parrots, vultures, ostriches and other rare species of birds, chimpanzees, a rhinoceros, oryx, deer, hyenas, jaguars, lions, snakes and tortoises, among others.

A white tiger, the latest addition to the zoo’s extensive collection of rare animals, is one crowd drawer with its immaculately white fur with streaks of black.
