Thousands thronged the Qatar Marine Festival (QMF) as it officially opened its doors to the public on Thursday at the Katara Cultural Village East side seafront.
Despite a nip in the air, the enthusiasm of kids and adults alike was noteworthy.
The second edition of the QMF has substantial focus on education with many elements geared toward raising awareness among the young of Qatar’s rich marine resources and the need to protect the country’s marine heritage.
To ensure the maximum participation of schoolchildren, the QMF has arranged a special day for students.
Among the new features that were added in this year’s line up of events are the boat show, the ‘Secrets of the Sea’ musical play, Seals Show, Bahoor World and Sea Giants exhibition.
