Tributes to a friend Saturday, 29 May 2010 04:12
Family friends and colleagues of Jenny Pan, a 26-year old Qatar Airways airhostess who died here in a hit-and-run accident on Thursday gathered at the accident site on Airport Road for an unusual remembrance ceremony yesterday.
The gathering on the divider surprised many, but “there was no better way we could show her due respect and also bring to the attention of the authorities the need to have a pedestrian crossing”, a close family source said.
The young Malaysian woman was hit by a speeding vehicle as she was crossing the Airport Road early Thursday morning to report for duty on a flight to Dammam. She was rushed to the emergency unit of Hamad hospital where she was put on life support. However, she succumbed to injuries at 2:45pm.
