Tadmur Contracting: Planning green projects Wednesday, 04 May 2011 05:24

Tadmur Contracting which already earned a niche in the building construction sector in Qatar with multi-million projects already implemented is setting their eyes to be the pioneering company to build green infrastructure projects. “Qatar is gearing towards this global trend for more green buildings,” said Charbel G Maroun, Commercial and Contracts Director at Tadmur Contracting underscoring that their company was the first to become certified member of American Green Council.
Maroun said Tadmur has been going ahead from Qatar Green Building Council which also follows the international standards of the American Green Council for the company to be more prepared to heed the total global green buildings call in the next few years.
To set as an example, the proposed headquarters of Tadmur Holding set to be erected at a 20,000 sqm area at the Energy City will be totally green even as Maroun admitted it would cost them 20 percent more expensive than an ordinary building.
Tadmur Contracting which was established in 1987 as a “Grade A” Contractor by the Central Tenders Committee in Qatar has executed nearly a hundred million Qatari Riyal government and private projects contributing significantly to the modernization of Qatar. Among the recent projects the contracting company has been implementing is the Student Centre ar Qatar Foundation which is already 98 percent completed, the Library Building at Qatar University at around 95 percent completed, the Central Service Unit at QU at 85 percent completed and the New Research Complex at QU with already 70 percent completed.
