Doha: Al Feroz Club crushed the challenge of Chaudhary Eleven by 74 runs and won the Qtel Cricket Tournament Trophy at the West Bay Grounds on Friday.
Batting first, Al Feroz made 271 for seven in the stipulated 50 overs. Inaam and Mujeeb batted superbly and smashed 87 and 81, respectively.
Inaam hammered 10 boundaries in his half-century and Mujeeb’s knock contained eight hits to the rope. Boota also contributed 30. Bilawal, Imtinan and Khalid grabbed two wickets each and Iftikhar also claimed a scalp but Inaam and Mujeeb had placed their team in a safe-looking position.
As expected, Chaudhary Eleven could not bear the run pressure and collapsed just before crossing the 200-run mark in 45 overs.
Inaam emerged as the best bowler, grabbing four scalps, while Mujeeb picked three. Nadeem also bowled well to remove two players. Azhar and Bilawal attempted to launch a rally to keep their team into the contention. But once Azhar got out after reaching his half-century (58) and Bilawal return at 37, no other player could cope up with the pressure and the whole team folded up at 197. Farhan, who made 28, and Khalid, who got 26, were the best scorers among the rest.
At the closing ceremony, Ahmad Al Mansoori and Nasir Hassan Al Khaiat, representing title sponsors Qtel, gave away the prizes. Qatar Cricket Association General Secretary Manzoor Ahmad and Gul Muhammad Khan Jadoon, QCA Head of Domestic Cricket attended the prize distribution along with other QCA officials.
