El Jaish crush Al Kharaitiyat Friday, 03 February 2012 03:19

Doha: Brazilian striker Adriano scored on three occasions to help El Jaish crush Al Kharaitiyat 6-0 at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium yesterday.

El Jaish raced into a quick lead after nine minutes, Al Kharaitiyat’s centre back Dario Khan scored an own goal to outset his side in a horrible manner, as he dived to meet Karim Ziani’s cross but only to clear it into the net past keeper Khalifa Abubakr.

El Jaish doubled their lead on 27 minutes through another Ziani cross, the astute Algerian dashed down the right flank before sending a pinpoint cross towards Adriano, who headed home from close range to pave the way for another high-scoring night for El Jaish.

Just two minutes later, Adriano scored his second of the night from the penalty spot, the Brazilian netted for the 12th time this season to break parity with Alan Djoko and Afonso Alvis at the top scorer category.

He completed the hat-trick on 54 minutes after receiving the long pass from Wagner to easily send it past Abubakr. Abdelkader Elias added a fifth on 68 minutes to put an end for his four-week dry spell in front of the goal. Al Kharitiyat’s only chance of note in the second half came when Yahiya Kipi headed wide from outside the six-yard box.

Substitute Edu rounded off the scoring on 87 minutes just two minutes after stepping onto the field. El jaish remain third with a total of 25 points, while Al Kharitiyat’s 13 points place them at tenth. Umm Salal’s problems in front of goal continued as they were forced into a goalless draw by Al Arabi at Grand Hamad Stadium in the Qatar Stars League fifteenth week opening encounter. The result means Girrard Gilli’s side failed to gain considerable ground on the two sides above them (Al Ahli and Al Kharaitiyat), although both teams are yet to play later this weekend.
