Young innovators win iHorizons Tech Awards Sunday, 01 August 2010 03:05

 

Doha: A group of young talented students won awards for innovative research projects they developed during the national Technology Parade 2010 held at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) seeking to offer solutions for their community’s challenges.

iHorizons, the leading provider of business solutions and IT services in the Arab World, has encouraged this ambition and devoted awards for the creative projects developed by the innovative students.

One of the winners, Saleh Alamareen, a fourth year student in computer engineering – who received iHorizons award for developing iPhone application for Arabic news – has expressed his joy for participating in this competition.

“I am thankful to iHorizons for giving me the opportunity to work on its technology project, especially that it is related to a well-known news channel, which has increased my enthusiasm to rely on myself,” said Alamareen.

Another winner, Rofaida Banihamad – a computer engineering graduate from JUST – who received an award for developing the first innovative “human robot interactive”, said: “This has been always my dream, to apply what I learned at college in real life, and I am happy to be selected as one of iHorizons research and development team at their lab at JUST, where I can benefit from my colleagues’ experience and expertise”.

The Chief Executive Officer  of iHorizons Mohamad Takriti, said: “We were impressed by the capacity of the winners to create and develop such hi-tech, innovative work, and we are glad to contribute in enhancing the skills and capabilities of these graduated students who will be the next generation of Arab World’s business and technology leaders.”
