Emir and Sheikha Mozah in Lebanon Monday, 02 August 2010 03:12

Beirut: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and H H Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned met here last evening the Leader of the Change and Reform bloc in Lebanon Michel Aoun and his wife Nadia Aoun.

The meeting which was held at the residence of General Aoun in Rabia District, was attended by the Personal Representative of the Emir, H H Sheikh Jassem bin Hamad Al Thani.

Sheikha Mozah also met Member of Lebanese Parliament Bahia Hariri, who is also the president of the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development (HF).

The Hariri Foundation president presented to Sheikha Mozah the honorary Shield of Taif Conference in recognition of her role in educational and scientific development.

Sheikha Mozah visited the National Museum of Beirut last evening.

Officials briefed her on the museum’s history and the different stages of its development, before she was given a tour of its numerous galleries, which bring together a collection of artefacts from prehistory to the Arab conquests of Mamluk period, including sarcophagi, mosaics statues and reliefs.

Earlier yesterday, Sheikha Mozah, the Unesco Special Envoy for Basic and Higher Education, met with the Director of the Unesco Regional Bureau for Education in the Arab States in Beirut Dr Abdul Munim Mohammed Osman.

Sheikha Mozah and the First Lady of Lebanon, Wafaa Michel Suleiman, attended a luncheon banquet hosted by Mariam Al Muhannadi, wife of the Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon.
