DOHA: Qatar is seeing a sharp increase in the number of MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) being sent during the holy month of Ramadan, as more people use the creative capacity of the service to stay in touch with friends and family.
To enable people to fully enjoy this service, Qtel is currently offering a special rate of QR0.60 to send both international and local MMS.
MMS enables people to send images, sound and video along with their standard text message via their mobile phone.
They can even incorporate photo and video taken on their handset into messaging, to fully personalise the experience and share special Ramadan moments.
Qtel decided to offer this special low rate to support customers during the time when MMS usage typically reaches the highest level. During the summer, MMS usage spikes as people send pictures and video to loved ones overseas. This trend is seen to increase during the holy month of Ramadan, when many people send Islamic imagery and verses from the Quran, along with congratulatory messages, as well as Eid Greetings during Eid al-Fitr.
To be able to send an MMS, customers require an MMS-capable handset and have the Qtel MMS settings.
Configuring handsets to send MMS is easy for Qtel customers. They simply need to send an SMS message containing the word “All” to 92072 and all configurations will be sent directly to the customers’ mobile within seconds.
Qtel Mozaic Mobile portal offers a wide range of dedicated Islamic content, along with a selection of Ramadan and Eid greetings, available for easy downloading.
The special rate of QR0.60 for international and local MMS is available till September 10.
