Independent schools to reopen on September 19 Sunday, 29 August 2010 05:45

DOHA: All Independent  and semi-independent schools in Qatar will open for the new academic year — 2010-2011 — on September 19, a little more than a week after Eid Al Fitr.

Most of the private schools here are also scheduled to reopen the same day.

A ministerial decision issued by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, H E Saad bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, announced the academic calendar for day/ evening government educational institutions for the new academic year.

The administrative staff of these schools is required to report for duty on September 19. Students are scheduled to resume classes on September 19, the Qatar News Agency reported yesterday.

The Minister has also announced the calendar of the Independent Schools for the entire year.

The spring vacation of all schools will be from February 13 (Sunday) to February 24 (Thursday), while the second semester will start on February 28 (Sunday). The academic year is scheduled to end on July 7 for the students and July 21 for the educational staff.

As printed in The Peninsula regarding reopening of independent schools there is a mistake on the website instead of 26 th September the date is still 19th September. What is correct the newpaper date or the website date
