Doha: Qatar Holding, the owners of Harrods in London, has appointed advisers for a possible £1bn bid for May Bourne Group, the owner of the Connaught, Coleridge’s and Berkeley hotels in London, reports the Daily Mail.
Although May Bourne Group has consistently denied talks of a sale, insisting that it is on track to complete refinancing of its £200m debt, a small number of wealthy investment funds, including Qatar Holding, are known to have approached the group to negotiate an outright purchase.
Qatar Holding intends to increase its assets and consolidate its investment in the United Kingdom if this deal is concluded, said the Daily Mail. But neither of the two parties has disclosed any details of the reported deal.
