Breaking News: Kuwait closes Al Jazeera office Monday, 13 December 2010 13:24

Doha: According to Al Jazeera TV (Arabic), Kuwait has decided to close down the offices of the Qatari satellite television station in Kuwait today. This may due to Al Jazeera's coverage of the ongoing problem with Kuwait's opposition parties.

This is the third time Kuwait has closed Al Jazeera's offices.

The first time was in 1999 when an Iraqi caller insulted Kuwait's Emir, Sheik Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah, during live show. But the ban was lifted after a month and a local bureau was opened two years later.

It's offices were closed again in 2002 because of what Kuwaiti officials deemed as unobjective coverage of the local events in the country.
