Doha: Qatar has gained access to the Global Legal Information Network (GLIN), the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Justice, Sultan bin Abdullah Al Suwaidi told reporters yesterday. By enjoying the membership of GLIN jurists in Qatar will have access to an international legal database, he said.
GLIN was initiated by the Law Library of Congress in 1991. It is a public database of official texts of laws, regulations, judicial decisions, and other complementary legal sources contributed by governmental agencies and international organisations, he explained.
Qatar, which became the focus after winning the bid to host World Cup soccer 2022, will be able to contribute to the GLIN database. The Ministry of Justice has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GLIN regional office in Kuwait, before signing the charter with the network headquarters in Washington, Al Suwaidi concluded.
