Firm sues ministry for QR650m Tuesday, 18 January 2011 02:31

DOHA: A company—understandably from the contracting and construction sector—has sued a key ministry here for damages.

The company has demanded that the ministry delayed issuing the necessary license to it which led it to incur heavy losses.

The company has demanded a compensation of a whopping QR650m saying it submitted all the required documents to be eligible to acquire the license.

But the ministry has refused to own any responsibility for the company’s claims that it suffered losses and said it actually failed to comply with safety and other key regulations while requesting the license.

The ministry said in its defence that it even raised some queries and the plaintiff failed to respond to those queries.

But the company is insisting it submitted all the required papers and completed all the necessary formalities to get the license. The Peninsula
