DOHA: An increasing numbers of graduates from universities at the Qatar Foundation were able to find jobs on their field of study, says a survey.

The study done by The Telegraph to find whether Qatar Foundation graduates can find jobs, reveal that majority are able to get work related to their education.

Majority of respondents (72 percent) to this survey believe that the graduates will be able to find jobs, while another 28 percent of them said the graduates are not able to find jobs.

Elisabeth Kent, a graduate from the Georgetown University told The Peninsula: “A degree from one of the prestigious universities in Qatar Foundation offers a recent graduate credibility on the job market.”

Elisabeth also said that employers have confidence that students emerging from Qatar Foundation have the skills and background necessary to succeed in their respective area of work. “When I applied for jobs across Doha, employers were immediately impressed to see that I had graduated from Georgetown University in Qatar Foundation,” she said.

Dwa Osman, another graduate, said the universities under the Qatar Foundation prepare their graduates to meet the international job market.

“The institutions within Education City are just what Qatar needs to invest in human capital and diversify its economy. Qatar Foundation’s world class education equips its graduates with the skills to thrive in a highly competitive labour market.

“The high standard of education along with the unique experience in Qatar, enables graduates to compete on a global scale as well,” Osman said.

A total of 242 students graduated from Qatar Foundation’s fourth annual senior convocation this year. Some of them see the various agencies at the Qatar Foundation as potential working places to gain experience. They prefer to continue with research work in different departments of Qatar Foundation and continue their higher education in the United States.

Jocin Abraham a graduate from the Texas A&M University in Qatar with a major in Petroleum Engineering said that he would a company and gain work experience, to do his masters in the US or to continue with research work.

Zainamb Hisham Elfil, another graduate said she would specialise in education development and to work for the Qatar Foundation as it’s a rewarding place in promoting and developing education.

Further, the graduates are also finding jobs at multinational co operations like Citigroup, Shell, Exxonmobil, Vodafone, General Electric and as well as with successful local companies like Qatar Telecom and Qatar Petroleum.

However, some graduates from universities at the Qatar Foundation find difficult to find jobs in their study field.

Shubhan Agrawal, a graduate from the Texas A&M said, it is difficult to get a job in Qatar without experience as only few petroleum related jobs are suitable for fresh graduates and he would go abroad to get work experience.
