DOHA: World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) has announced the 20 finalists for the WISE Awards 2011, chosen from hundreds of applications received from all regions of the world.
These projects have been selected for different educational projects in all over the world under the theme Transforming Education: Investment, Innovation and Inclusion.
This year highest number of finalists has been selected from UK as four, and three from India, three projects in Canada, along with other countries as Pakistan, Columbia, Argentina, Switzerland and Morocco.
Running in parallel with WISE Initiative, the annual WISE Awards are designed to identify, showcase and promote innovative educational projects from around the world in order to spread best practices and build the future of education.
The finalists are now completing a more detailed application which will be evaluated during the month of August by the WISE Awards Jury. Six winning projects, chosen by the Jury, will be announced in September and celebrated at the next WISE Summit to be held in Doha, Qatar from November 1to November 3.

Besides the annual awards this year WISE Prize for Education will be awarded for the first time. This major new Prize will reward an individual - or a team of up to six individuals working together - for an outstanding, world-class contribution to any level or area of education, in any part of the world.
