DOHA: The third annual Translation Conference, organised by the Translation and Interpreting Institute, Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Publishing and the British Council, is set to take place in April at the Education City.
The conference, running for three days under the theme ‘Translation in and of the World,’ has expanded since previous years to offer a range of literary and non-literary workshops that will cover a number of topics related to translation. Registration is now open online and will close on Thursday, April 26.
The keynote speeches will be delivered by world renowned scholars-Mona Baker, Daniel Hahn and Vicente Rafael- who will be moderated by best-selling author, Ahdaf Soueif. During mornings and afternoons workshop topics will include Literary Translation, Media Translation, Business/Commercial Translation, as well as Audiovisual Translation.
Translators who have a keen interest in literary translation are encouraged to apply for the morning literary translation workshops, led by the British Centre for Literary Translation, which will run continuously for the duration of the conference.
There will be a limited number of slots which will give accepted participants the opportunity to work directly with internationally renowned authors and delve into the intricacies of literary translation. The application form is downloadable from the translation web page.
