Obedience to God Monday, 01 August 2011 20:07

By Ramzi Al Saeed

Allah Almighty made Ramadan a season of worship and closeness to Him and obligated us to fast and pray during the month. He ordered us to fast and read the holy Qur’an and do charitable works. The mankind is the only creature in this universe in whom Allah breathed His spirit. This spiritual and divine breath is a favour given to human being and for this Allah asked all angels to bow down to Adam in his honour not because he was created from clay, but because Allah breathed His spirit into him.

The obedience to Allah has been prescribed by divine laws and has been demanded by all religions through the apostles and prophets sent by Allah to rescue man and lead him from darkness to light. All the apostles and prophets called on the basis of one principle, which is a call to faith in Allah Almighty. Therefore, the principles and laws were made including the acts of worship and the transactions on which the happiness of human being is based. With this faith only man can become the deputy of Allah in the earth and can live with happiness and security. They can achieve prosperity and peace of mind. The structure of man is based on looking after the soul and the mind. There is no value of the body if there is no faith in the heart. There is no value of the image if the concerned person does not carry principles and values.

A Muslim believes that the path to paradise is fraught with difficulties and requires from him a high degree of courage to overcome himself and his desires, with the purification of his heart from all defects that lead him to temptations and sins. The people are known for their determination, not images. Allah does not look at your faces, but He looks at your hearts and your deeds and in order to get this status, one has to work in straightening his relationship with himself, Allah, the people and the world in which he lives in and in order to become a true agent of Allah on earth he has to establish balance of justice, lay the foundations of truth and establish the good that benefits others. This is what this agent should do to the last breath in his life and till the Day of Resurrection, and all heavenly religions have urged people to do good and keep away from all evil and work for the promotion of virtue and prevent the unlawful in order to ensure the survival of the human being, and propagate righteousness on earth as well as gurantee the security of the humanity.

Man cannot be content with self destruction. People are different in their characters and in their upbringing. It appears in their differences in the handling of hardships, temptations, warnings, blessings, curses, intimidation, poverty and riches. Some of them advance towards good deeds and these people establish their foundations on the fear of Allah and bring themselves up by obeying His rules. No doubts can shackle their faith and no desires can overcome them. There are like solid rock.

The life for them is a blessing and punishment and they try to maintain the balance between them as they know that everything happens with destiny. They understand that every difficulty is followed by comfort and ease and they restrain themselves in both the situations. They neither get upset if they lose something nor do they feel happy if they get something. You will find that their hearts are content. These are the people who proceed towards the good deeds carrying values and principles. They have very noble souls and pure hearts. But such kind of people are very few. The person who has a stable heart with faith can never be shackled by any test and examination and never can be influenced by worldly desires, and he always will plant the good deeds and reap the benefits.
