Anger is live coal from Hell Tuesday, 16 August 2011 03:28

By Ramzi Al Saeed

Fasting is one of the duties imposed by Almighty Allah and one of the pillars of Islam, by which Allah purifies the believer from stains of sins. This is what Islam enjoins us in these blessed days in order to be equipped for the life in the hereafter,  and the best provision is piety, and to get away from all that cuts the bonds of love among the people. Anger is something everyone must guard against. Anger is a live coal in the abdomen of the son of Adam. People need one another to lead a happy life and this is the social way in universe, and the nature of human being as Allah has created all mankind. It is known scientifically that man is civilian by nature, he loves people, he loves socialising and to sit with them and deal with them in his daily life in various areas, by which a lot of relationships prosper, but this relationship sometimes dissolves, even turns into severe hatred and permanent interruption, and this is due to negligence in the maintenance ogood relations and good communication.

Allah has installed in human being several instincts and emotions, so he becomes affected by what is happening around him, and he responds to what he watches and listens to others, he laughs and cries, grieves and rejoices, and becomes pleased and angry to the last of these psychological emotions. Allah has created man from the earth, all kinds, including the white and black, the good and bad, so the hearts of people grow up in different stripes and diverse natures; what works for some may not be suitable for others. Due to these factors, the Prophet, peace be upon him, has taken into account in his commandments to the people, so he used to recommend to everyone what suits him and helps him in discipline of restraint and its sponsorship, except  endless love between the members of the Muslim community, because the treatment between the members of community of believers does not stand on culpability, accountability and self victory, rather it stands on tolerance, forgiveness and patience. One of the things that the Messenger of Allah has forbidden is getting carried away by anger, the man looses his way because of anger, as it may drag him to the things of undesirable consequences, it was narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said to the Prophet (peace be upon him): Advise me, Prophet said: (Do not get angry, He said repeatedly: Do not get angry).

By this brief word, the Prophet hinted at the risks of this reprehensible behaviour, as anger is a combination of all evil and the source of misfortune, how many connections were shattered by it, and how many relations were cut by it, and the fire of hostilities was ignited by it, and how many actions committed because of it, the person regrets when it does not benefit. It is boiling in the heart and agitation in the feelings, when it affects the heart and you see the person with reddened face, sparks trigger his eyes, after he was calm and balanced, he turns into something quite different from that quite picture,  like a rebel volcano who shoots lava on each one. The Prophet, peace be upon him, did not only forbid from this scourge and its impacts, but also explained the means and treatments that human being can use to alleviate the anger and avoid its ravages, everyone gets angry and often anger is at the beginning difficult, if you could control it at the beginning you can relax and get rid of it easily, but if it dominates you and reaches the peak, then it becomes a disaster, we must try to get rid of it from the beginning, as the texts of Islam command us to do, the prophetic tradition has ordered us to change the situation to bring down the anger, if you are standing when angry, you should sit down, as Prophet peace be upon him commanded us for ablutions to turn off the passion of anger in the soul, the bad deeds. Bad deeds burn hearts, and cause hatred and grow grudges, but if bad deeds are met with good deeds then they extinguish the fire of anger, and calms down the soul and washes away stains of hatred, and it is a great win for those who pay the bad with what is best, it cannot be won but only  by those who have great luck, to continue the harmony between you and whom you are dealing with from human beings choose good intimacy and continued love.
