Remembrance of Allah Tuesday, 23 August 2011 02:57
By Ramzi Al Saeed
The days of the month of Ramadan are good and blessed. A Muslim spends them as a real believer in Allah and trying to get closer to Him, always remembering Him and trusting Him. He derives help from Allah and he feels deeply that he needs always the power of Allah and His help and support, no matter how much efforts he has made, and whatever means he has adopted. Allah Almighty says: “O ye who believe, remember Allah a lot and praise him in the morning and evening.”
A Muslim’s faith makes him remember his Lord at all times, he sees Him in everything, in the scenes of nature and events of life, and his great model in this regard is Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. He used to remember Allah at all times, when he is awake and during dreams; when going and sitting. The reality of remembrance is not by tongue only, first it must be established in the sense and conscience, and then it should flood on the tongue conversing with Allah and praising and magnifying Him, when it is done the Muslim becomes among real remembering slaves of Allah, for whom He has prepared forgiveness and great rewards. A Muslim who remembers his Lord, Allah Almighty remembers him, as He says in a hadeeth Qudsi: “I am with My slave as he thinks of Me, and I am with him when he remembers me, if he remembers me alone I remember him alone, and if he remembers me in crowd I too remember him in crowd better than his one.”
How great is that person whom his Lord remembers and sponsors, and if he asks, Allah responds to his supplication. Therefore, a believer must remember his Lord with his tongue and converse with Him with his heart, because the remembrance of Allah is life of the heart and its light, and negligence in it is death and darkness. The person who forgets his Lord and His remembrance ignores the reality of existence and forgets its secret; that’s why a Muslim should not neglect or forget his Lord, otherwise what will he remember if he forgot his Lord. One of the greatest and highest qualities of remembrance is reciting Holy Quran, it is enough for a devoted, conscious Muslim to consider the beautiful image loved by the reader of Holy Quran, drawn by Holy Prophet by his unique and great explanation, in order to spend his days and nights reading Holy Quran, and thinking about its great and holy meanings. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, was asked, which business is better? He said: “You die and your tongue is wet with the remembrance of Allah Almighty.” How great is that in the days of remembrance and days of Quran, those are days and nights of the month of Ramadan.
A Muslim should not forget the truth, while undertaking himself and building his being physically and mentally, that he is not a component of body and mind, he should realize that he has a beating heart, a striving spirit, a feeling soul and high interests to push him to the highness and absorption in the world of worship, and to look forward to what Allah has from the delights, and he should have the fear of his punishment and hell, that’s why it is a duty of Muslims to take care of his spirit, he should refine the sprit by observation and worship of Almighty Allah in the nights and days, so that he can remain vigilant and alert, avoiding cunning nets of Satan, and his dangerous whisper. When the shade of Satan touches a person in a moment of human weakness, and the remembrance shakes him, he reverses repenting and apologizing, that’s why the Prophet peace be upon him used to say to his companions: “Renew your faith, he was asked: O Messenger of Allah! How to renew our faith? He said: multiply reciting of Kalima, “there is no God but Allah”. The Muslim used to strengthen his spirit and repair itself through various kinds of worship and remembrance, being observer of Allah in secret and in public, having the fear of Allah and His monitoring for him, and he does not deviate from the truth and from the right way, so beware, O Muslim of ignoring Allah Almighty, if you want to be close to him, and to be in His company, and multiply his remembrance and persist in it, you will win Allah’s goodwill. Indeed He is all-hearing, close and kind to his creations.
