Indonesia Deputy Foreign Minister meets country's envoys in GCC

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia recently held a Coordination Meeting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the envoys and representatives of Indonesia in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and stakeholder of the country in Doha.

The meeting led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir, was attended by Indonesian envoys in Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuwait City, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh and the Consul General of Dubai and Jeddah. 

In addition to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also represented by expert staff to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on Economic Diplomacy, Director of Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Indonesian Legal Agency, and Acting Director of Middle East.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the Indonesia government has prioritised to strengthen its cooperation with GCC member countries in the field of economy, energy security, protection of Indonesian citizens, and cooperation particularly in the field of strategic industry. 

In order to strengthen cooperation, each Indonesian embassy in the region should also optimise the existing regional groupings in the region. "All Indonesian embassies should focus on the feasible and concrete outcome. Do not hesitate to make breakthroughs for the sake of the people of Indonesia," said Dr Fachir. 

According to Indonesian Embassy's Minister Counselor, Boy Dharmawan, Dr Fachir also paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to discuss ways to enhance strategic relations between the two countries particularly with the planned visit of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Indonesia by the end of 2017.
