Qatar Central Bank issues treasury bills amounting to QR600 million

Doha: The Qatar Central Bank issued treasury bills for the month of June of this year, for three, six and nine months, with a value of QR600 million.

According to a statement published by the Qatar Central Bank on its official website, the issuances of treasury bills were divided as follows: QR300 million for three months at an interest rate of 0.32 percent, QR200 million for six months at an interest rate of 0,37 percent, and QR100 million for nine months at an interest rate of 0,37 percent.

The issuance of treasury bills by the Qatar Central Bank comes within the framework of its endeavor to develop monetary policy in the State of Qatar, increase its effectiveness, contribute to the robustness of the banking and financial system, activate open market tools as one of the monetary policy tools, and implement the coordination mechanism between the fiscal and monetary policies.

This issuance also comes within a series of issues that the bank is carrying out on behalf of the government of the State of Qatar, and according to the schedule prepared in advance by the Qatar Central Bank and in coordination with the Ministry of Finance, where treasury bills are offered through auction for the benefit of banks operating in the State of Qatar.
