Doha, Qatar: As students across Qatar returned to their classrooms for the new academic year, Ministry of Public Health has issued a reminder on the importance of fostering healthy routines that help support children's growth, learning and overall wellbeing.
"By encouraging beneficial habits, we can help every child approach learning with confidence," the Ministry highlighted in a social media post, emphasizing that starting the day with a nutritious and well-balanced breakfast is key to healthy eating.
Alongside this, MoPH shared several practical tips to promote healthy habits among schoolchildren:
- Involve children in preparing their own healthy lunchbox, while explaining the benefits of a nutritious, balanced diet.
- Offer healthy snacks such as vegetables, fruit, and unflavored low-fat yoghurt to maintain energy and concentration.
- Include a variety of fish at least twice a week to boost concentration and memory.
- Encourage children to start day with a bowl of oatmeal, whole grain cereal, or whole wheat toast instead of fatayer, croissant, or a muffin.
- Promote daily intake of low-fat milk and dairy products daily to strengthen bones and teeth.
- Set an example by adopting healthy habits as parents and sharing nutritious family meals together.
Through these guidelines, MOPH aims to equip families with the tools to nurture healthier lifestyles, helping students perform better academically while maintaining their physical and mental wellbeing.
