Doha, Qatar: The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs participated in Eid Al-Adha celebrations organised under the “Hour and Hour” programme at Centro Qatar Complex in Rawdat Al Hammama, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development and Family, as part of ongoing efforts to spread joy among children and families during the holiday.
Held on the third day of Eid Al-Adha under the slogan “Our Happiness is in Our Eid,” the event formed part of the General Directorate’s broader “Farhat Al Eid” (Eid Joy) initiative, which aims to strengthen the social impact of endowments while promoting family cohesion and community engagement.
The participation builds on the success of the initiative, through which approximately 4,000 gifts were distributed to children at 19 Eid prayer mosques across Qatar. The campaign sought to revive the festive spirit of Eid while reinforcing the values of social connection, compassion, and community solidarity.
At the event, the General Directorate of Endowments hosted a dedicated pavilion where children received Eid gifts and participated in a variety of interactive activities. Educational competitions and stage-based quizzes were also organized, with prizes and gifts awarded to participants, creating a lively and celebratory atmosphere for families attending the event.
Officials said the initiative reflects the directorate’s commitment to supporting community-based programmes that focus on families and children, while helping instil positive educational and social values among younger generations. Such activities also aim to strengthen children’s sense of belonging and encourage participation in religious and national occasions.
The event was supported through the Endowment Fund for Family and Childhood Care, one of the specialised endowment funds dedicated to promoting family stability and child development.
The fund supports activities and programs that contribute to nurturing children in a healthy social environment and encourage the development of positive values and life skills.
Through its involvement in religious and community occasions, the fund also seeks to enhance children’s psychological and social well-being, reinforce feelings of happiness and inclusion, and demonstrate the role of endowments in responding to community needs and improving quality of life for families.
The General Directorate of Endowments emphasized that such initiatives reflect the broader humanitarian and developmental mission of the endowment sector in Qatar, which seeks to support social welfare, strengthen family ties, and contribute to sustainable community development through charitable and endowment-based programs.
The directorate also encouraged philanthropists and members of the public to contribute to endowment initiatives that support family and childhood programs, highlighting the role of charitable endowments as a sustainable source of community support and social development.
