Kahramaa gets equipment from Germany

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has signed contracts with German companies to supply equipment for its various projects by cargo flights and it assumed significance in view of the blockade, said the President of Kahramaa, Issa bin Hilal Al Kuwari.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the inauguration of the project “Hamad Grand Street Power Station and Parking Lot”, Al Kuwari said the required equipment have been imported and it is being installed to the power stations and other ongoing projects.
“Despite there are differences in the cost between importing the equipment through air and sea, the government provided necessary supports in a bid to implement and deliver the projects on time,” he added. Al Kuwari said that Kahramaa signed contracts for 13th project for building substations at a cost of QR7bn. The project aims to build 60 substations including establishing new substations and upgrading the existing one. Speaking on the share of local companies from the fruits of development, Al Kuwari said that local contractors including main contractors and subcontracts got pretty good shares from new project. Some substations have been completed and remaining will be accomplished by 2018 and 2019.
