Stakes high as racing season gets under way

The green track at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC), yesterday kicked off the eagerly-awaited season with the opening race with several races taking place on the inaugural day.  
This season will offer a lucrative prize money pot currently standing at 535,000 riyals, adding to the excitement of both racing fans and participants.
Races will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays every week.  
Spectators and fans can look forward to attending the thrilling races at 4.30pm in the scenic grounds of the  Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club.
With plenty of activities for families and racing fans alike, watching races is QREC is one of the most enjoyable ways to experience a prestigious sport in beautiful surroundings as the summer months come to an end and more pleasant weather on its way soon.
The flat-race season will continue until May next year and admission to the races is free of charge.
