Al Ruwais Port receives first shipload of gabbro

Doha: Qatar Ports Management Company (QPMC) announced that Al Ruwais Port yesterday received the first ship carrying 14,700 tonnes of gabbro.
The vessel Azkumnming docked with the support of the trailer Victoria TUG, is one of the high-dive ships. It is  112 metres long, 31 metres wide and 5.5 metres deep.
The port is providing additional berths for gabro imports for FIFA 2022 projects.
Operations at the port are going on with high efficiency, along with intense programmes to implement plans to spur economic activities in the northern part of the country.
The second phase of the port’s development project includes expansion of its capacity and other facilities.
The third phase will include expansion of the port basins and deepening them to 10 metres to receive all types of vessels which will maximise the port’s efficiency.
Official data for May shows an increase in the movement of commercial vehicle at Hamad Port.
The month witnessed the movement of 145 ship, compared to 36 in April.
