Rajagiri Public School holds sports meet

The Annual Sports Meet of Rajagiri Public School, Doha was held on December 22 at 8.30am at Rajagiri grounds. The Chief Guest of the day was George Jacob, the Managing Director. Principal Issac Tharayil and members of the Board of Directors were present on the occasion. The meet was declared open by the Chief Guest after hoisting the flag. Members of the four houses took part in the March past and the Chief Guest took salute.

The Principal spoke on the occasion after the felicitation by the student representative Aisha Zia. The guests were welcomed by Ben Antony, the meet began with a few spectacular display of mass drill, aerobics, pyramid formation and sports icons display.

The track events in sub-junior and junior categories witnessed close contest and stiff fight. True to the spirit of oath taking done by the school Captain Master Amaan Arshad, all the athletes participated keeping rules and regulations to perfection.

Finally, the yellow house came out victorious and the meet came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by Mohammed Fazal, the head of the PE Dept.

The winners were honoured with medals and certificates and the champions and the runners up were felicitated with trophies. The commentary by Regal helped everyone follow the event in sequence. Jayalekshmi and Shalini supported the department efficiently in conducting the meet in a professional manner. Asma Umer, Sally Thomas and Kajal Moosa were the heads in charge of leading the team of teachers.

The staff came out with sporting talents in the events conducted specially for them. Parents were also invited to take part in competitions helping them get involved in school activities. The day finally belongs to the student community of Rajagiri public School who felt proud of the house members, who won gold, silver and bronze medals. The Sports Meet of 2016 paved way for physical, mental and psychological development of the student community. Sporting talents in some of them could easily be identified by the PE Dept in order to give them professional training, helping them to become professional athletes in future.

The National anthem of Qatar and India were sung as the closing ceremony was done. The day left lasting memories in the minds of the young ones that would help them work for the glory of sports and human welfare.
