QU graduates honoured at Education Excellence Day

Five students from Qatar University (QU) were honoured by the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the 14th Education Excellence Day Award ceremony 2021, which took place at the Doha Sheraton recently under the theme “Excellence Builds Generations.” 
Nora Essa Ali Hussain Al-Ansari and Shaheen Essa Al-Nuaimi, students of the College of Arts and Science, and Hamad Abdullah Tayyis Abdullah Al Jumaili, a College of Law student, won gold in the university graduate category. 
Nasser Muhammed Nasir Al Habab Al Hajri, a College of Law Master’s student, received an award in the literary category. Ahmed Abdullah Ali Al-Jabir Al-Buainain, a College of Engineering Master’s student, received an award in the scientific category.
Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Hassan Al-Derham, President of QU, said: “The Education Excellence Day has become an annual national day that recognizes students’ excellence. This auspicious event is patronized by the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, making it more inspirational for students’ nationwide.
“It is an honorable moment for the students who received this award and a prestigious moment for Qatar University and families of students who are awarded.”
Also commenting on the recognition, Dr. Iman Mostafawi, Vice President of Qatar University for Student Affairs, said that honouring the students with the Excellence Day Award is a support and motivation for them to achieve more. 
It will encourage others to follow them by actively participating in the development of Qatar towards achieving Qatar National Vision 2030.
Dr. Mostafawi congratulated the gold medal winners and the other two faculty members, who demonstrated exceptional and distinguished skills during their career in QU. 
He noted that QU provides its students with a qualitative education and an academic environment that stimulates innovation and creativity, which qualifies them to compete strongly in the labor market and achieve the distinction after graduation.
One of the QU winners, Ahmed Al-Buainain, said, “The award was a dream that I had from the days of my high school. I am happy to serve my country in all ways possible as I am currently completing my Ph.D. in Engineering Management and working in the Ministry of Interior. My mission is to develop fieldwork in civil defense to reduce time speed of responses and development of the Ministry of Interior’s security system.”Another winner Nora Al-Ansari added, “Winning the Academic Excellence Award is an embodiment of the efforts exerted for many years and the fruit of efforts. I seek to complete postgraduate studies to return to teach at Qatar University.
