Doha: Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) announced a season of summer experiences, retail offers and entertainment, to run from June 4 to August 16. This year’s ‘Summer in Qatar’ introduces a wide range of exciting indoor and outdoor experiences, along with entertainment programmes featuring local, regional and international artists, edutainment, summer and sports camps as well as special promotions on inbound travel, hospitality and shopping.
Akbar Al Baker, Secretary-General of QNTC and GCEO of Qatar Airways said: “This year’s summer season promises to attract visitors from across the globe showcasing Qatar as a destination for its unparalleled hospitality and authentic experiences.”
Travel:
Starting 15 May, Qatar Airways will offer a discount of 25% on all flights to Doha from more than 160 destinations worldwide, for travel to Qatar anytime between 30 May – 16 August. Moreover, Al Maha Services, Qatar Airways’ personalized meet and assist service for customers arriving, departing or transiting through Hamad International Airport, will offer discounts of up to 25% on all their services during the summer.
Qatar Airways long-haul passengers can also take advantage of +Qatar, a unique stopover package, in partnership with QNTC, designed to give travelers transiting through Qatar the opportunity to discover the country with free luxury hotel stays and complimentary transit visas.
Hospitality:
A wide range of hotels and hotel apartments will offer discounts of up to 25%, valid for stays between 4 June – 16 August 2019 along with several additional incentives and promotions at facilities (Terms and Conditions Apply). Participating hotel groups include Katara Hospitality, Al Rayyan Hospitality Hotels and Marriott International hotels in Qatar.
Indoor and Outdoor Entertainment:
The “Entertainment City’ will offer a plethora of family fun at the Doha Exhibition & Convention Centre in addition to activities and entertainment at malls.
In addition, members of Qatar Museum’s Culture Pass Plus and Culture Pass Family will enjoy benefits such as exclusive discounts on tourism products, outdoor, mall and retail activities, family entertainment as well as a variety of other offers.

This year’s activities also include deals at numerous indoor theme parks, and edutainment parks. These include the newly opened Angry Birds World, a novel indoor-outdoor theme park that brings the popular game to life.
Talal Bin Mohamed Al Attia, CEO of Trimoo Parks stated, “Trimoo Parks include three unique indoor-outdoor facilities at Doha Festival City. These include Virtuocity, a gaming and eSports venue spanning over 4,500 sqm, the world’s first Angry Birds World️ indoor & outdoor entertainment park and Snow Dunes – a winter wonderland expected to open this summer.”
Meanwhile, Souq Waqif and Katara Cultural Village will also bring vibrancy to the summer with family fun and entertainment shows during both Eids.
Mall Activities:
Nine participating malls across Qatar will be offering special entertainment shows, exhibitions and free activities for different age groups throughout ‘Summer in Qatar’, with programs for adults including free makeup and fitness classes.
Numerous sales and promotions along with the ever-popular raffle draws will excite shoppers hoping to save and win big. Various entertainment and edutainment parks inside these malls and at The Pearl Qatar will offer summer-long deals and promotions.
Over QR2m will be up for grabs through raffle draws this summer. The smallest cash prize will be a QR20,000, while the grand prize, to be awarded at Eid Al Adha, will be a McLaren 570S.
Entertainment:
Music enthusiasts can mark their calendars as celebrated names are set to rock this ‘Summer in Qatar’, including international superstars, Arab singing sensations and Bollywood artists. Movie buffs will get a chance to attend the glittering South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) with well-known celebrities from the industry.
Comedy fans can prepare themselves for the return of the Doha Comedy Festival, while the little ones can enjoy numerous stage shows including ‘Hello Kitty’, ‘Aladdin’, ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘The Smurfs’.
To deliver the programme QNTC brings together more than 30 partners from the public and private sectors, including the Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MCI), Ministry of Municipality & Environment (MME), Qatar Museums (QM), Qatar Airways (QA), Katara Cultural Village, Qatar Foundation (QF), Private Engineering Office (PEO), Katara Hospitality, Al Rayyan Hospitality, Marriott International hotels, 9 participating malls, and other event partners including QSports, Social Studios, Alchemy and Radio ONE FM Qatar.
