Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani being received at the Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Buenos Aires by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Argentine Republic, Jorge Faure, yesterday.
DOHA: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Buenos Aires yesterday on a state visit to the Republic of Argentina.
H H the Amir was welcomed upon arrival at Ministro Pistarini (Ezeiza) International Airport by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Argentine Republic Jorge Faure, Qatar’s Ambassador to Argentina Fahad bin Ibrahim Al Mana and members of the Qatari Embassy.
Talks between H H the Amir and President Mauricio Macri are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially in the economic, trade, food and investment sectors, QNA reported. The talks are also expected to cover a number of issues of joint interest that are taking place on the international arena.
Ahead of the visit to Argentina, H H the Amir was decorated with Mariscal Lopez necklace on Wednesday evening by President of the Republic of Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benitez, at the Presidential Palace in Asuncion. This was on the occasion of the state visit paid by H H the Amir, and in recognition of the close relations between the State of Qatar and the government and people of the Republic of Paraguay.
Meanwhile, the Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to Qatar, Carlos Hernandez, affirmed his country’s keenness to intensify its relations with Qatar and to make them more stronger.
The Ambassador pointed out that H H the Amir’s visit to Argentina, the second in two years, is a clear demonstration of the solid relationship between the two countries.
He said that H H the Amir’s will witness the signing of an agreement on the cancellation of visa requirements for holders of Qatari passports to enter Argentina easily, noting that the agreement is important for both countries, especially for Qatari citizens.
A memorandum of understanding will also be signed on twinning between Doha Municipality and the city of Buenos Aires, he added.
Moreover, there are memorandums of understanding, agreements and letters of intent that have been agreed upon, and others that will be signed during or immediately after the visit. These include cooperation in the fields of sport, education, scientific research, agro-industries and foodstuffs, as well as an agreement between Qatar University and the University of Buenos Aires, another between Qatar National Library and Mariana Marino Library in Argentina, and a memorandum of understanding proposed by Qatar Civil Aviation Authority for cooperation in the areas of air transport, the Ambassador said.
