Doha, Qatar: Qatar will honour 80 teachers from government schools on Wednesday in recognition of their contributions to education, as the Ministry of Education and Higher Education marks World Teachers’ Day 2026 under the theme “Giving that Nurtures Generations.”

Held under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the ceremony will take place on October 7 at the Ritz-Carlton Doha, bringing together senior officials, education leaders, school principals, teachers, students and parents.

The 80 teachers being honoured have been selected in recognition of their distinguished efforts in the education field and their contributions to improving the learning process, developing students’ abilities and skills, and instilling values and principles that help shape their personalities and prepare them for the future.

Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater will deliver the keynote address at the ceremony. Her speech will highlight the status of teachers and their central role in shaping generations and advancing education, as well as the ministry’s efforts to support teachers, develop their professional capabilities and enhance the standing of the teaching profession.

The ceremony will also feature an accompanying exhibition showcasing a selection of outstanding educational projects and applied research presented by students and teachers.

The exhibition will highlight teachers’ role in developing students’ research, critical-thinking and innovation skills, while demonstrating how knowledge and modern technologies can be integrated into teaching practices to improve learning outcomes.

The ministry said the event reflects its commitment to recognising teachers’ efforts and highlighting their role in educating and nurturing future generations. It also seeks to strengthen public awareness of the importance of teachers’ educational mission and their contribution to human development.

The celebration aligns with the human development objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, which places education and human-capital development among the country’s key priorities
