Fawzy and Kraatz top in ‘Swim for a Cause’ races

Simone Franceschi, Omar Fawzy and Justin Kraatz bagged the top honours in the men’s section of ‘Swim for a Cause’ open water swimming races organised by Sharq Village and Spa at the Sharq Village & Spa Beach.
In the women’s section, Jana Rada, Georgia Twigg and Marse Glifore, finished on top in their respective races.
The contest, held in collaboration with Qatar Charity, while H2O swim club, Six Senses Spa, MAD triathlon and Tri Club Doha, saw over 130 swimmers contesting in three categories over a distance of 250m, 500m and 1000m, in both the men’s and women’s section.
In the men’s 250m race, Franceschi took the top honours followed by Leonardo Bettoni and Marek Olewski.
In the women’s section of 250m, Rada crossed the finishing line first leaving Allegra Gasparri and Alice Tranceschi to take the remaining two spots on the podium
In the men’s 500m, Fawzy beat the challenge of Justin Kraatz and Michael Berndt to finish first leaving Kraatz and Berndt to take the first runners-up and second runners-up positions.
In the women’s 500m, Twigg emerged on top while Kyna Galvin and Laica Radi clinched the remaining spots on the podium.
In the 1000m men’s section, Kraatz set up a lighting pace from the start leaving Michael Berndt, and Matteo Franceschi behind. Berndt finished second followed by Franceschi.
In the women’s section Glifore beat off stiff competition from first runner-up Andrea Stadler and Givlia Da Corte, the second runner-up to finish first.
The next Swim for a Cause open swimming challenge will be held on November 25.
