Tokyo: A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture on Japan’s southern island of Kyushu on Thursday.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said in a statement that the earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of 10 km.
There have been no reports of casualties or damage so far.
This earthquake comes as Kumamoto prefecture continues to recover from the powerful 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck on July 28, killing 38 people, which has kept authorities on alert for any possible aftershocks or emergencies.
