UPDATE: Air India Express statement added
Doha: Indian Embassy in Qatar has said that they are working on “mechanism” to help Indians holding Qatar residence permit, who are stuck in India, to travel back to Qatar.
Embassy urged Indian residents to avoid booking tickets and wait for embassy announcements. “We are trying to work out a mechanism for return of Indian citizens holding Resident permits who wish to travel to Qatar. Avoid booking tickets in anticipation. Kindly keep following our social media handles for updates on same,” embassy said on its Twitter account.
Social media posts by various agencies and organisations offering tickets for people with exceptional permit to travel from Indian to Qatar were shared in many groups. As of now regular international flights are not operating fromIndia and only few chartered flights with special permissions to transport health sector workers and other essential professionals are operating in this sector.
Qatar has started receiving applications for special return permit from residents who are stuck outside Qatar to come back to Doha from August 1.
Air India Express has put out a statement that as of now they are not allowed to carry passnegers ftom India to Qatar.
"ATTENTION Qatar-bound passengers!
As per the latest advisory from Qatar Civil Aviation Authorities, we are not permitted to carry passengers from India to Qatar. Once we receive the approval, the passengers will be informed through email for rebooking your travel. Please be assured that your booking would be safe with us." the airline said.
