Health Minister stresses importance of cooperating with QRCS in Covid-19 fight

Minister of Public Health H E Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari met yesterday with a delegation from Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), chaired by QRCS President H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Thamer Al Thani.

The meeting dealt with reviewing means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in fighting the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), and discussed joint cooperation in the activities carried out by QRCS in the healthcare field domestically and abroad.

The Minister expressed her thanks to QRCS, its leadership and members, for their cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. She praised continued efforts by QRCS in that regard, with hundreds of volunteers present in quarantine and vaccination facilities.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Thamer Al Thani expressed his appreciation of MoPH’s great efforts in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, stressing that the fruitful cooperation between the two sides will continue in light of the rise of a second wave of the pandemic. He said QRCS stands ready to aid all efforts made to contain the pandemic.

Director-General of the Medical Affairs Division at QRCS and head of the medical committee Dr. Abdul Salam Al Qahtani said that QRCS is implementing a number of medical projects that include operating four healthcare centres dedicated to workers, as well as other programmes related to donating organs and dialysis. He added that those programmes were in addition to efforts related to combatting the COVID-19 pandemic by participating in the management of the quarantine facilities, especially in Mekaines.
