DOHA: ‘Screen For Life’, Qatar’s National Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening program, has launched its annual national Breast Cancer Awareness campaign to mark the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2018.

The campaign’s tagline ‘Your Life is Precious, Get Screened’ is a message from the children to their mothers, urging them to get screened for breast cancer. It shows the love and concern the kids have, and the level of awareness they have on the health of their mothers.

Under the tagline ‘Your Life is Precious, Get Screened’, the month-long campaign will incorporate a comprehensive range of activities including intensive educational lectures addressed to private and governmental entities, activation booths in major malls and awareness posters in all PHCC’s Health Centers.

The awareness tactics are designed to continue raising awareness of breast cancer and share the program’s objectives to promote early detection through screening and its importance in saving lives.

The campaign will target women aged 45-69, reminding women not to delay and book today a screening appointment at one of the three dedicated screening suites, at Al Wakra, Leabaib and Rawdat Al Khail Health Centers, by calling the call center at 8001112.

“Raising awareness of breast and bowel cancer and the ‘Screen For Life’ objectives is a year-round goal for us. This year’s community outreach initiative aims at engaging the younger generation, so they will encourage their mothers to take action and get screened for breast cancer. This is a step towards raising awareness of the whole community, so they can play an active role in encouraging people to get screened,” said Dr Shaikha Abu Shaikha, Cancer Program Manager, PHCC.
