LOS ANGELES: Grammy-winning soul and R&B singer Seal is paying tribute to Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole and other music legends in a new album "Standards", which is set to be released on Nov. 10.
The British singer, best known for his 1990s romantic ballads like the hit "Kiss from a Rose", belts out timeless jazz and swing classics on the new album.
Recorded at Capitol Records studio in Los Angeles, the album includes songs by Frank Sinatra ("Luck Be A Lady" and "I've Got You Under My Skin"), Ella Fitzgerald ("I'm Beginning to See The Light") and Nina Simone ("I Put A Spell on You").
Seal said during production that he was wary of trying to change the classic tunes.
"One has got to be really careful with that because the songs have withstood the test of time," Seal said in an interview with Reuters.
"I feel that the songs from that era, they sing you. You've just got to trust them and trust the melody because the melodies are immaculate. They are sublime," he said.
