Doha: Lulu Hypermarket Qatar and Qatar Charity (QC) have expressed their happiness at the continuation of their partnership in the ‘Shop and Donate’ drive and other projects over four years, given the service this cooperation provided to the local community, humanitarian work and social solidarity.
This came at the event in which Qatar Charity received a cheque of QR250,000 from Lulu Qatar as a contribution to Qatar Charity’s projects through the ‘Shop & Donate’ drive launched annually by Lulu Qatar during the holy month of Ramadan.
This donation comes from Lulu to support the charitable and humanitarian projects implemented by Qatar Charity for those with limited income in the country and the vulnerable communities worldwide.
Ahmed Omar Al Sherawi, Head of the Relations and Social Responsibility section at Qatar Charity, received the cheque from Shanavas Padiyath, regional Manager of Lulu Hypermarket Qatar. He thanked Lulu for allowing its customers to donate and contribute to the community service and humanitarian work, in addition to providing an opportunity to play a societal role. Al Shirawi also expressed his delight with the continuation of cooperation between the two sides for the fourth year in a row, noting that Qatar Charity is keen to cooperate and partner with all bodies from the public and private sectors for the benefit of everyone.
“In co-operation with Qatar Charity, Lulu is looking forward to playing an important role in the social responsibility program,” said Shanavas, adding that the ‘Shop & Donate’ campaign managed to successfully raise QR250,000 during this challenging period. He also emphasised that Lulu Hypermarket would continue its support for charitable projects and carry on promoting humanitarian work along with Qatar Charity. Over the four years, Lulu Hypermarket Qatar and Qatar Charity have previously signed several collaboration agreements. The first agreement allows customers to donate riyal and dirham fractions when paying their purchase bills at various Lulu Hypermarket locations to charitable projects both within and outside of Qatar.
The second agreement promotes Qatar Charity’s Khair Cards through Lulu outlets in order to promote charity among shoppers, while the third agreement involves collaboration for the ‘Shop & Donate’ campaign.
