During International Plastic Bag Free Day, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) partnered with talabat Qatar to raise awareness around plastic pollution and encourage customers to reduce its consumption.
talabat Mart replaced all single-use plastic bags with paper bags to mark the day on July 3. In addition, seven restaurants had their food delivered in paper bags: McDonald’s, Dunkin Donuts, Hardee’s, Exit 55, Graze Cafe, Pappa Roti, and Volume Cafe.
In line with talabat’s commitment to a sustainable future, this initiative protects the environment and, specifically, marine life, which is highly affected by plastic pollution. The Ministry of Municipality and Environment highlighted talabat’s efforts to reduce plastic pollution by offering an award to talabat Qatar’s Managing Director, Francisco Miguel De Sousa.
Noof Bakhamis, Head of the Awareness Section at the Public Relations Department of the MME, said, “Activating the International Plastic Bag Free Day in cooperation with state institutions serves the Ministry’s directions to have sustainable, environmentally friendly cities and to promote alternatives to plastic for our future and the sustainability of our resources.”

talabat has launched a series of initiatives to protect the environment, including cleaning beaches, recycling its papers, and switching to biodegradable plastic bags in all its talabat Mart stores.
In addition, sustainable solutions are being implemented in Qatar to help the whole ecosystem embark on a sustainable journey.
