Doha, Qatar: A 97-year-old British woman has broken her own Guinness World Record to become the oldest female wing walker.
Elizabeth “Betty” Bromage, from Cirencester in Gloucestershire, UK, successfully completed a wing walk on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the main base of wingwalking company AeroSuperBatics in Gloucestershire.
Bromage first set the record four years ago and has since completed six wing walks from the age of 87.

Her latest feat was dedicated to raising funds for the stroke unit at Cheltenham General Hospital, where she was treated after suffering a stroke in August last year. The stroke continues to affect her speech.
“I'd just get bored of life otherwise. I can't drive, I can't see very well and I get a bit frustrated. So, I want to do the things I can do,” Betty told the BBC.
Speaking about her decision to dedicate the challenge to the hospital, she said: “They [the hospital] treated me so well. It affects my words but the rest of me is fine.”
A wing walk involves a person being secured to the outside of an aircraft as it flies. In this challenge, Betty was strapped on the wing of an Aero-Super-Batics biplane.
AeroSuperBatics, which helped Bromage complete the record-breaking flight, congratulated her on social media.
