Doha: Qatar University (QU) participated in the 29th Doha International Book Fair, that began on November 29 and ended yesterday, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).
QU’s booth, which is operated during the duration of the book fair, is characterized this year by the launch of several books authored by faculty, staff and students. The booth this year also featured an array of cultural seminars, workshops and creative sessions. QU participated in this annual exhibition under the framework of strengthening its leadership role in society and its keenness to be a present figure in important events in the nation, be it conferences, exhibitions or relevant community events, particularly those that are cultural or intellectual in nature.
Nasser Rashid Al Marri, Director of Communications & Public Affairs, said of QU’s presence at the fair: “We at Qatar University, are keen to be present at the fair every year, as it is one of the most prominent cultural events in the country. With these periodic participation, we seek to reflect the support and interest the university has in publishing new publications authored by our members in various scientific, literary, social and cultural disciplines. We have seen a significant increase in these publications recently, which we are very proud of, and they reflect the increase of scientific, intellectual and cultural mobility in our leading academic institution.”
He added: “The QU booth offers a great opportunity to enhance communication with the local community and to introduce our scholars, intellectuals, writers and creators, who are a vital part of the educational landscape.”
