Doha: The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed his thanks and appreciation for the support provided by the State of Qatar to Palestine.
This came in a statement by Deputy Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, in which he said that “the Secretary-General would like to acknowledge with much appreciation the recently announced support of Qatar to Palestine, which will be key in helping address economic and humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people.
“The Secretary-General furthermore welcomes the continued excellent cooperation between the State of Qatar and the UN in implementing critical humanitarian and economic programs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory,” he said.
The Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani had directed allocation of $480m for the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The support aimed to help the Palestinian people to obtain their necessary life needs in the difficult circumstances imposed by the Israeli occupation forces, and the decline in the international humanitarian support provided to them and to the related UN programs.
