Doha, Qatar: Private Engineering Office opened the 'red' street which is located within the boundaries of Al Bida Park, and extends from the Qatar National Theater to the Emiri Diwan roundabout.
The street is the first of its kind in the State of Qatar as it is covered with red asphalt. It can be controlled by automated roadblocks to close it when needed in order to turn it into a pedestrian road only, or to close it during important events such as National Day and Sports Day and other world events such as the World Cup, especially as the park is one of the main areas to be allocated as fan zone during the 2022 Qatar World Cup. The street overlooks main celebration platform on Doha Corniche.
The opening of the street is part of the Al Bida Park project, being supervised by the Private Engineering Office, which is expected to open by the end of this year.
Al Bida Park extends over an area of about 2 million square meters and is one of the largest parks in the region. It includes many public service facilities, the most important of which are underground parking spaces for approximately 6,000 cars.
The park also features large gymnasiums, including one for women, in addition to outdoor exercise equipment, sports and open-air playgrounds, an open theater for 850 spectators, as well as tracks for bicycle, horse and camel, water areas, and other recreational and service facilities.
